Dear potential volunteer,

We can’t thank you enough for showing interest in wanting to volunteer for HOPE. With your help we hope to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children throughout Seoul by providing English lessons, free of charge to those who need it most. As with any educational program, especially those provided by non-profit organizations, a consistent teacher is crucial in establishing rapport with students. Something as simple as a familiar, smiling face can have a huge impact on the effectiveness of the lessons and consequently on the lives of the children we aim to help.

Because of this, we formally request that each volunteer commit to at least 3 months of volunteer work.

Please contact Mr. John Baek (010-3905-7020) immediately in case of the following situations:

  • If you are unable to fulfill your 3 month commitment, for whatever reason. (at least two weeks before)
  • If you are unable to make your weekly scheduled lesson(s).

Before you start volunteering with HOPE, please email us your resume and the attached application form after completing it. And we will require the following information as well, so please bring following documents to your first class day or any HOPE regular meetings before you start volunteering:
  • a copy of your most recent security check
  • a copy of your alien registration card (front and back)
  • a copy of your passport
Before your first day of teaching, we will provide you with a class list that includes the age, gender, names and levels of all the students attending. Some Partner Host Centers will have books available, some won’t. The curriculum is fairly flexible. Because of the limited time that is spent with the children, perhaps the most important thing that is taught in the classroom is familiarity with a foreigner and exposure to a different culture.

The management team of HOPE is always available for your support and assistance.  If you have any questions, comments or requests please do not hesitate to contact any one of us.  Our contact information can be found on our website, www.alwayshope.net

Thank you again for your support!  HOPE wouldn’t be possible without you!

Sincerely,
The Volunteer Support Team of HOPE
